A CALL TO ACTION!
Integrity and the Price of Freedom
Do any of you know what a terrible price our Founding Fathers paid for their written word? Remember, they pledged their Fortunes, Lives and Sacred Honor. There were 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence. Of those:
*Five who were captured then tortured by the British then died.
*12 had their homes ransacked and burned.
*Two lost their sons to the war and two other sons were captured and imprisoned.
*Nine died from wounds or other hardships during the war
*Almost all were left penniless and died paupers.
Many were offered amnesty if they only denied their signed oath. All refused.
You see then, a mans word was his bond! How many of us today keep our word. Be honest with yourself. How many of us would make the sacrifices these men did? Most of them were very well to do before the war. They were men of means, so to speak. How many of you even bother to vote. How many bother to read anything, about an important issue. Make contributions to groups who fight for our rights like Gun Owners of America.
One thing I do know. We who were born in this country were extremely blessed. To not know what it is like to want anything. To not fear having your door kicked in because of something you have said. To not know the ravages of war on their doorsteps, to go hungry or fear for your life these are the blessing I am talking about. When I was growing up, my father who suffered during the depression and fought in the Pacific Theatre during the Second World War used to tell me how the Philippians’ who go through their garbage to find anything to eat. But then again, how you appreciate what you have never had to give up? What is even worse is those who really need to read these words will never do so. Why, because they are too lazy or involved in their own petty concerns to bother. I hope you will share these words with someone you know who has no idea how lucky he is.
