A great American died this weekend. While I am not prone to hero worship, Charlton Heston was truly a hero to me. Not because of his acting. It was because of his courage and commitment to freedom and the Constitution. He marched with Dr. Martin Luther King in 1963 long before it was fashionable. You get really get hurt in those marches. They used vicious attack dogs, water cannons (which really hurt!) and lots of tear gas as well as horses and billy clubs to subdue and intimidate the marches. Later in life is activity with the NRA really cost him roles in Hollywood. But he always stood up for what he believed in. He was a man of principle and that is what I admired about him so much. He wasn’t just about protecting guns either. He stood up to Time/Warner for issuing several rapper songs which glorified cop killing and raping. He was truly a great American and I will miss him greatly.
I am including three articles about him or speeches he gave at different graduation ceremonies. The two speeches are somewhat similar it is still worth reading both as they contain some new material and repeat material that we all need to hear.
God Bless you Charlton Heston and rest in peace.

He fully understood that we are fighting a war that we cannot afford to lose. I am not talking about the war on Islamofascism (we cannot lose either) but the cultural war in America. It is ironic that our so called institutions of higher learning have become propaganda camps which brainwash their students. Free thought is in great danger. I hope you will join the fight!
