Wood Camp Hollow and Old Juniper Trailhead

The Wood Camp campground has six campsites beyond the Wood Camp turnoff. Wood Camp was used as a halfway station for tired loggers who needed food and shelter as they moved up and down the canyon back in the late 1800s. Also, in the late 1800s wood from this area helped provide railroad ties, telegraph poles and cords of firewood. As you continue from this campground you will find an old trail called Old Juniper Trailhead. The trail is called this because of a Juniper Tree that has been living for over 1,500 years. The trail or hike is over 5.8 miles each way and you can see many beautiful sights along the way. If you go during the an amazing array of red, orange and yellow will tend to stand out. You will also get some beautiful shots of the Bear River Mountains.
