Below is another crazy letter to the Hearld Journal. While we are at it, why don't we just adopt the Karl Marx doctrine as our local constitution! I'm sure there are many within local government who would love to just sit around with their big USU degrees and get paid $150k+ while dreaming up ways to further restrict our freedoms and control every little aspect of our lives. They do it already, just look at Logan City. The funny thing here is that I'm not at all surprised to hear a proposal like this from someone like Mr. Forsyth. He is one of these communist/globalists who buy into the global warming BS which is one of the greatest lies of our time. This letter is a classic example of what is going wrong in Cache Valley. Nut cases dream crap like this up and someone over at Logan City or Cache County actually considers following it like puppy dogs. Those who run our local governments are not statesman nor are they conservative like they want us all to think!

Valley needs no-idling law

To the editor:

Do Logan and Cache County have a “no idling” ordinance against unnecessary idling of vehicle engines? If so, it should be enforced. If not, it should be enacted.

Cache Valley is full of smart people, patriotic people ... and bad air. We are nationally infamous for the latter. This is a perfect place for a no-idling ordinance!

Turning off your engine when parked, when waiting for someone in a store or a school, when leaving your vehicle to go into a store, even when stuck in gridlock for more than a minute or two — this is a smart thing to do on several levels. On the personal level, it saves you money, as you use less of the increasingly expensive gas. On a local level, it helps clean our air, especially important during winter inversions. On a national level, it reduces our dependence on foreign oil, improves our national security, and puts fewer of our soldiers in harm’s way. And on a global level, it reduces carbon emissions and the dangerous effects of climate change. Four big problems are reduced by one simple action. It’s smart, it’s compassionate, it’s patriotic. An enforced no-idling ordinance — even if it just started with warnings, not tickets — would put Logan and Cache Valley on the map for something other than bad air. Other communities around the country have done it, and we can, too!
