A CALL TO ACTION!

Thad Box Socialist

            Thrice in one month we have been regaled with socialist doctrine in the HJ by “socially progressive” columnists. Thad’s latest is more revealing than most. To preserve open space and views he wants to prevent any building outside of current city boundaries. This of course would lead to skyrocketing housing prices, placing home ownership outside of more and more people’s budgets. He imagines that by forcing more people into poverty (which is constantly decries) that somehow sustainability would be achieved. He wouldn’t mind it if new families were forced to live in 800 square foot homes and dinky lots. This is his idea of a more ideal lifestyle, turning back the clock to say 1910. This is known as utopianism. Utopianism has lead to the greatest mass murder of civilians (estimated to be around 217 million) during the twentieth century. The thinking goes something like this. In order to make a truly equitable society where everything is wonderful we need people to surrender their freedoms. And those who oppose this wonderful future world will have to be killed. That is what Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler and Pol Pot argued and carried out.

            Mr. Box clearly does not believe in democracy because he always complains when the will of the people is carried out. He and his ilk know better and would run society in a much fairer manner. Of course we would have to surrender much of our freedoms and property/income for this to happen but it would be worth it! These dreamers fail to understand what they are proposing. Radical environmentalists want to turn back the clock and keep things that way. They always argue that there are too many people, to much energy is wasted and we live an extravagant lifestyle. Of course they also imagine that they would be exempt from these edicts because they are of a superior class. That’s why people like Nancy Pelosi or Barbara Streisand support environmental causes unless it affects their own lifestyle.

These people are called limousine liberals for a reason. Like Al Gore jetting around the country to promote his movie ‘an inconvenient truth” while condemning us all for our wasteful lifestyle.

            Ms. Streisand sued an environmental group for taking a picture of her Malibu estate. They were attempting to monitor the erosion of the Pacific coastline. Incidentally she has a $27,000 per month water bill for her estate. She also keeps her New York apartment at 47° F to preserve her furs. The hypocrisy of the radical left has been well documented. Mr. Box has his and wants to prevent anyone else from enjoying the lifestyle that he enjoys. Does he live in an apartment, of course not? He lives in a large home on Center Street. He also talks about his trips to New Zealand and Australia. I know someone who is a believer in global warming. Both he and his wife live in Richmond and drive separate cars to work in Logan; He recently completed a trip to South America visiting several countries. They never seem to be able to put their money where their mouth is. Like the Politburo of the former Soviet Union enjoying special privileges while the majority of Russians lived in poverty. They are superior and different from the unwashed masses.

Peace

John - I want to scream every time I read the Box BS in our beloved HJ.  I also note that you seem to be about the only one who is smart enough and brave enough to take him on.  If it were a live debate, he would probably tell you to "shut the F up" like Ms. Streisand told the heckler in her audience recently!

Dear Sound1;

   Thanks for your kind words. Actually Mr. Box is very much the gentleman. He has the best of intentions. He is just a dreamer. You know the old saying about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. That just about sums up the situation. He means well. He has just lost touch with the basics of life like most of us. When you spend too much time living in your head it is easy to get confused. I used to be a socialist myself. That is why I so fear the spread of that bankrupt philosophy. I understand them better then they understand themselves.

Yes, I really shouldn't have said that.  I'm sure he is a nice enough guy.  It was more of a joke about Barbara Streisand.  Sorry Thad, but I still don't agree with most of your viewpoints.  Thanks John for being fair with other people.
