This is Debate?

            One of the saddest things that I find while reading the HJ is the lack of mature and coherent debate. Many of the writers, particularly of the more leftist bent, show complete lack of understanding of both history and simple economic principles. They are far better at repeating talking points than critical analysis of the issues of the day. First case in point, a letter from Justin John engages in sarcasm but fails to deal with the many points raised by David B. Kerr’s previous letter. It of course it not all their fault. An educational system which is far more concerned with feelings of esteem and the latest fad of education instead of teaching the basics of knowledge and understanding (logic) and an increasingly partisan media which fails to pursue numerous issues in depth. Feelings are as or more important than facts while insuring every student supports diversity and the latest viewpoints de-jour. Does lack of evidence then prove a given assertion?

            I have written numerous previous essays on the threat that Iraq posed to Western Civilization. Since so many people seem ignorant of the facts I feel compelled to repeat many of my previous assertions.

1) Shortly after the first gulf war, Iraq tried to assassinate the previous President of the United States. This was a clear act of war and should have been reason enough to attack Iraq.

2) The 93 attack on the WTC showed clear signs of Iraqi intelligence involvement, but investigation into this probability was thwarted by Attorney General Reno.

3) Extensive evidence supports the supposition that Iraqi Intelligence was behind the bombing of the laceName w:st="on">MurrahlaceName> laceName w:st="on">FederallaceName> laceType w:st="on">BuildinglaceType> in OK. Much of this evidence is supplied in Jayna Davis’s excellent book “The Third Terrorist.”

4) TWA Flt. 800 was almost assuredly downed by a missile. 170 eye witnesses reported seeing a contrail of a missile rise up from the ocean to the aircraft. A great deal of explosive residue was discovered among the wreckage. All of this evidence was ignored by the FBI and the NTSB by interference by the Justice Dept. Jack Cashill and Peter Lance have written extensively on this matter.

5) Significant evidence was ignored by the 9/11 Commission which pointed to Iraqi involvement. Only one of many piece of evidence which have been under reported is the fact that two months before 9/11 in an Iraqi Newspaper controlled by Qusay Hussein a writer with extensive intelligence experience predicted that Osama Bin Laden would bomb the White House and the Pentagon and in a somewhat cryptic reference, the World Trade Center. In Intelligence circle this would be considered a clue. Additionally, the families of victims of 9/11 proved to the satisfaction of a Federal Judge that both Al Qaeda and Iraq played a role in 9/11.

6) The abysmal failure of FBI to find any domestic source for the Anthrax which was used shortly after 9/11 was most likely came from Iraq.

7) Despite recent attempts to rewrite history Iraq had extensive ties to Al Qaeda. None of the facts included in the leaked Feith memo have been refuted (see Modern Iraqi History part III).  

8) Even if one excluded any reference to Iraqi involvement in 9/11 or with Al Qaeda there is a huge body of evidence for Iraq supporting all kinds of terrorism throughout the world. Again I refer the reader to my previous writings (Modern Iraqi History Part I & II).

9) Every intelligence agency of which I am aware was convinced that Iraq had WMD’s. Also there are numerous Democratic Leaders quotes saying the same. Why was Iraq included in President Clinton’s indictment of Bin Laden? And why has not the evidence that Iraq transferred a large amount of material to Syria, Lebanon, Iran and the Sudan been totally ignored by the Major Media? The near collapse of the Iraqi embargo as proved by the UN oil for food calamity, Saddam’s failure to comply with 17 UN resolutions and his continued attacks against US and other aircraft patrolling the no fly zones over Iraq. 

            But most of all one has to believe that Saddam Hussein after being humiliated after the First Gulf War just retreated to Iraq and did not attempt to seek any form of revenge. This to me is the hardest issue of all to ignore.
