Saddam Hussein Sought Revenge

I have written on this subject before, but I think it important that more people be aware of the true history of the bombing of the Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City and also TWA Flight 800. First, please read this op-ed piece on the so called right wing’s attack in Ok City and how the Major Media have helped in the cover up.

Next is an article about the cover up of TWA Flight 800 which exploded over Long Island Sound. Think you know the whole story?

And finally a further essay on the Trans America or NAFTA super highway.

Hope you had a good labor day!

Peace

What do you make of an article that is more about how some important information has been suppressed than it is about the information itself, especially since its goal looks like it should be to make more people aware? How about if, at the end, it suggests that you send postcards to people asking them to act on an essentially unrelated matter?

Indeed, I am perplexed by the aim.org article, and not least of all because its premise seems so bogus and paranoid. Of course, it seems appropriate that it is linked to by a post that flits from one topic to another, with no apparent connection between them.

So, to change the topic to one that I think it interesting and worthy of some debate, the action suggested at the bottom of the aim.org article is to mail three postcards to cable companies asking them to stop carrying the Al Jazeera network. I have no doubt that the editorial board of Al Jazeera is at least critical of the US and that they may actively support terrorists. What I wonder is, should it be allowed in the US?

On the one hand, it can be used by those who wish to communicate their anti-US message. On the other hand, it never hurts to understand your opponents. On the one hand, their news coverage is highly biased. On the other hand, so is the news coverage by any network (although hopefully it is not as bad for the more reputable news outlets).

It seems to me that the biggest danger with Al Jazeera is that it is the only source of news that is readily available for some people. This would not be the case in the US. In this country, there are so many sources of information clamoring for attention that Al Jazeera can at best hope to become a popular channel for people who already hate this country and want to hear from others who feel likewise. It is unlikely that it will convince enough people to hate the American way to many any meaningful difference, and in the meantime, it would offer a unique opportunity to study the thoughts of a people who hate us.

I think that we will not be able to make peace with Muslim fundamentalists until we understand them better. This means more than just projecting our own opinions onto them, but it means learning what it is that drives them to be who they are, and to see what drives us to be who we are. I am afraid that this won't be possible. Islam is dominated by (among other things) a strong moral code, and most people in this country have redefined their moral code around their own personal opinions, so they can't really relate to an external code of ethics and how strongly one can become a part of themselves.
