A CALL TO ACTION! Are These the End of Days? Many early Christians (within the first hundred years) thought that Nero was the Anti-Christ and that Christ’s return was imminent. Predictions for the rapture, etc. have occurred many times throughout Christianity. I could take you to the locations of many “cults” communities who where sure that his coming would be any day now. I say this only because I believe there is a tendency for many Christians to not become involved in politics or other similar activities because they believe that the outcome is inevitable! This might be true but I also believe God expects us to do our part. Inaction by good men lets evil prevail. I submit that it is as much a religious duty to protect the principles on which this great nation was founded as is church and related activities. Why, because faith without acts is dead. How would it be to reach the end and be shown that if you had only done (fill in the blank) the entire history of the United States would have been changed? None of us has any way of knowing the results of our actions. Certainly, intention is an important element, but even the best of intentions can lead to disaster. To those of you who believe in evil or Satan does one not have an obligation to resist? And by resisting, I do not mean saving ones own skin. I mean warning others of the threat. Even most animals will go to great personal risk to warn a given colony of a predator approaching. To follow in Christ’s footsteps is to put the interests of your fellow man above your own. Now, it is important to use discrimination and good judgment in these matters. Anyone has only so much blood to spill and should use it wisely. One easy thing anyone could do would be to take the time to talk to a friend and tell them some of your ideas or observations about the trouble this country is in. It is very easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of evil out there, but if everyone would just take the time to talk to one other person, the amount of good that can be done is tremendous. I believe with all of my heart that this country was founded by God. With the exception of Israel, I can think of no other country which has done so much to resist evil in the world. Another really valuable thing to do would be to read a really powerful book. I try every once in awhile to mention a book which has had a tremendous amount of influence on my thinking. Some of these include the French Betrayal of America, The Third Terrorist, Cover Up, The Ballad of Karl Draga and just about any book about the Founding Fathers. Another great book which has been published only very recently is The Marketing of Evil. This book, does more to expose how this country has undergone one of the most radical transformations in history and all within the last forty years or so. There are many other great books, web sites and blogs out there and I will write about these from time to time, but your own education is your responsibility. If you know of a good source why not share it with our readers. I am always open to new ideas or any discussion regarding how we might improve ourselves and this Great Nation. Peace

I agree that education is essential. There are many good books to read and it is great to talk about these things so we can all become informed. Part of saying that 'All is well in Zion' is not being educated as to what is going on.

I would say that we are close to the end! Never the less, the worst thing that we can do is to give up on our great Nation. I personally feel that our Great Nation will be here and will last even when the end comes. This Greatest Country was meant to be for a reason! I'm a very active member of the LDS faith. I get really frustrated with some in my Church. They are so blind as to think that the USA is a lost cause and that their only obligation institutionally is to the Church. They are wrong. The Church as a whole has always been very Patriotic. It is the duty as members to protect this Country and the Constitution. It was this Country that afforded the founding of the Church and this Country that continues to help protect the work of the Church. Regardless of faith, Each and every American should be willing to protect at all costs the Constitution and our beautiful Country. Those who are evil will be cleansed from this Nation some day. We have to make sure that we are doing our part as individualizes to serve, protect and stand up for the Nation and principles of the Constitution. If not, we are no better. Just because the end is closer, doesn't mean that we as a wholesome people can't have a glorious future as a Nation.

The Church as a whole has always been very Patriotic. This isn't exactly true, and quite understandably. The Church is now very patriotic, but in the 19th century the Church was not. From being driven from the United States to being hunted in the 1870's and 1880's by federal agents to the Utah War, one can understand why members of the Church felt animosity toward the government of the United States. Anti-U.S. government rhetoric is laced throughout the speeches of 19th century Church leaders. And really, who can blame them? If my rights were continually denied and I received harrasment from the government I wouldn't feel strong feelings of loyalty. When the Church arrived in Utah they did so not under the banner of the U.S. flag, but of the now abandoned Church Flag (or Ensign to the Nations), which is still flown at Ensign Peak Park. The Church also included an oath and covenant in the temple until the early 19th century that bound members to swear an oath of vengeance upon the government of the United States. My loyalty will always first be to the Church, and to the government second. In the meantime it is unproductive and irresponsible to adopt a lassiez-faire attitude toward world problems because we suspect an imminent return of Christ. We don't know when He will return and must advocate free agency and liberty for all (even those who we disagree with) until He comes.

I'm not referring to the US Government as much as I am the Nation. Where my first priority is God, (the church) America is a very close second (God and Country). There will always be some corrupt people who run the Government. As far as I'm concerned, America should not be blamed for the treatment of our early Pioneers. It was all done by the hand of corrupt Politicians. The founders would have been very upset at the treatment of the Pioneers. That is the not the America they intended. Many of my Ancestors were Pioneers. All I can do is forgive. Let the sin be upon the heads of those who committed the offenses against the Pioneers. It is our responsibility today to stand up for this Country and not give up on it like some members have done. As a member of the LDS church and descendant of the Pioneers, I love the USA and Constitution. I will never turn against it. That does not mean that I won't disagree with those who are running (destroying) it. Welcome aboard by the way Tom!
