A CALL TO ACTION!
Bubble, Bubble Toil and Trouble
I invest several hours a day researching current events from numerous sources. I have found a judicious use of the Net to be the most profitable, but one must use discrimination. What is it that motivates me? I receive no monetary reward, that is what so ever, and often am personally attacked for my views. My answer is this. I feel a moral imperative. None of us has had to deal with famine or war on our doorstep for at least a hundred years. To anyone the least bit wise the trouble that this nation is in is blatantly obvious. What absolutely astounds me is how many intelligent, reasonably informed people cannot see this at all. So many believe that all we have to do is get the right Party in power and everything will be hunky dory. For years it was understandable for Republicans to think this, because it had been quite sometime since they had controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency. But they have had six years to fix things and not only have they refused to do so, but have made things much worse. I know many of you still think that all that needs to happen is to get the right people elected (within the Republican party) and that would take care of it. I long ago gave up on that idea.
The reason why, is that the system itself is hopelessly corrupted. There are many very powerful people in the shadows pulling the strings. The further you go up the ladder the more powerful they are. Until people begin to see this, there is no hope of significant change and we are truly running out of time. The moral fiber of this great nation is truly starting to rot. Attacks are coming from all sides and the forces behind them are both subtle and immense. So many of us like to think that America is exempt from things like dictatorship and tyranny, a police/military state or famine, pestilence and large pandemics. Those same people used to think that we were exempt from large scale terrorism. Many have already forgotten what happened 9/11.
Most of us are truly like children. We engage far too often in magical thinking and show incredible self centeredness. We think the world owes us a living and that we really should not have to suffer that much. They cannot imagine what it would be like to live in a country where you cannot say what you think, go where you want and pretty much do what you want. More and more are thinking that many people are not even entitled to what they have if (in their mind) it could be used for a better purpose (according to them). A developer will often buy a property at considerable expense, invest a great deal more with plans to develop it for profit. The latest craze is “open space” and government have refused to allow development without paying the owner just compensation. Or even worse, because some insect, small fish or snail might live on that land will prevent the owner from using his land as he sees fit and all without any compensation. If we lived in a land were judges actually interrupted the law in stead of making it what they think it should be this would have been ruled unconstitutional long ago. What most Americans fail to realize is that almost all rights stem from the ownership of private property.
