Iraq and Al Qaeda

I have heard the Major Media (including KSL) claim that the 9/11 commission debunked the rumor that Iraq and Al Qaeda had any relationship. This is a bold faced lie! First of all the 9/11 commission never stated this. What they did state was that there was no evidence of "an operatonal relationship." This is just semantics. The following article spells out some of the evidence of Iraq Al Qaeda working together before 9/11. This is not all of the evidence. To read more about this refer to my previous postings (Modern Iraqi History 3 parts) and other postings. It is bad enough when the Media cover up information but even worse when they spread false info.

The lines that I see in this article all state that there were relationships between people who are associated with Al Qaeda (at least in name) and Iraq, but all of the interactions that they mention were dated 2002 or later, by which time the US was already rattling sabers about invading Iraq and so it would make sense for extremists to get into position to fight the invading infidels.

There was one reference to a terrorist living in Iran in 1998, but that's a whole different country that has had a long hatred of Iraq (one reason why Saddam had US supplied weapons was because we had supported him in his war against Iran many years ago).

In other words, the linked article doesn't give any ties between 9/11 and Iraq.

Incidentally, I am disappointed that Saddam was executed, but at least the US wasn't involved in the execution in any way. Dead people can be martyrs, and there are plenty of people who liked Saddam well enough to praise him in death and forget the madness and genocide.

Again I refer you to the Feith memo which lists fifty pieces of intelligence linking Iraq with Al Qaeda. Iraq and Al Qaeda go back to the days of Sudan. What is truly frustrating to me is that the CIA did an absolute miserable job of tracking Al Qaeda and also had no real penetration of Iraq. Then critics of the war use this against those who waged war against Iraq. Also, you should be aware that even if you ignore Al Qaeda, intelligence (captured documents) indicate that Saddam was training numerous terrorists from all over the Arab world (at least eight thousand) before we invaded. They also had a terrorist campaign scheduled for the July after we invaded. I would also mention that there are very provable connections between Iraqi intelligence and Abu Sayaf (located in the Philippines.) Also even though the 9/11 commission dismissed it (with very flimsy reasoning) Atta met with Iraqi intelligence in Prague. Czech intelligence still insists on this and have additional corroborating information to support this claim. The 9/11 commission was all about spreading blame and therefore really deflecting blame. In other words a white wash.
