A CALL TO ACTION!

I submit that Liberalism is a religion and the big movers and shakers in the Major Media (MM) are its priests and priestesses. There are many tenants to this religion three of which are 1) Global Warning is real: You will never read a serious criticism of this belief. 2) Intelligent design: Again, it is always described as stealth creationism and never presented as a separate scientific theory. I myself view it as complimentary to evolution. 3) Anything critical of the UN: I will talk more about this in later. If you do not think that there is group think or whatever you want to call it, all you have to do is look at what happened to Judith Miller of the New York Times. Because she committed the unpardonable sin of actually talking to the Bush Admin., she had been excommunicated. Even though she didn’t do what the Bush administration wanted her to do, that is expose Joe Wilson for the fraud that he is, she has been forever banned (see previous article “The Plame Affair”).

If this was a just world, the UN oil for food fiasco would continue to be front page news. There is a lot to this drama which hasn’t been reported by MM. It is huge! It involves Kofi Annan’s son and numerous other executives of the UN hierarchy. Also, Russia, China, Germany and of course France were bribed with billions of future contracts. Are you aware that the US, that is you the American taxpayer, pays 22% of the UN’s costs? And of course there is the ongoing struggle to actually make the UN’s Human Rights Commission have actually something to do with human rights. Currently, or in the past countries like Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Libya and Zimbabwe are/were sitting members or chairs.  And of course there is a small matter of its peace keeping members who have a nasty tendency to rape, exploit and murder the very people they are there to protect. Did you know that Kofi Annan what the head of the UN peace keeping commission when the tragedy of Rwanda occurred? He specifically ordered all peace keeping forces not to interfere (even though it was already know what they intended to do). In fact previously these forces had disarmed the Tutsi’s with the promise to protect them (you know like they did in Serbia). Also, the role of France in this bloodbath has not received the publicity that it should. In one African country, the UN’s peace keeper force of 15,000 failed to do what 100 civilian (mercenary) contractors had accomplished. That is, they keep the violent faction from murdering etc. the innocents and doing their evil deeds. The last two African missions have forced children into prostitution and have murdered and raped countless civilians.

Some, who are aware of all of this (and much more), say we shouldn’t quit the UN. I personally cannot understand what we have to lose. And we could gain at least 82 billion per year. This organization has still failed to even condemn Terrorism, because (mostly Arab states) cannot agree on a definition. The UN constantly votes against the US and Israel, while failing to condemn any of their criminal members behavior (like Sudan). Please remember how numerous Democrats and a few Republicans opposed the appointment of John Bolton as our UN ambassador. I believe they were afraid the American people might actually find out how bad they are being screwed.

Peace

I agree!

One of the major issues that drives a wedge between myself and Liberalism us the UN. The UN is a major threat to the US as we know it. I can't understand how Liberals want to give the UN so much power over their own Country! Liberalism really should be defined as a "Trojan Horse" within our Country.

Good blog!

I think the following front page article taken from the Herald Journal a few weeks back should explain the position that the Herald Journal takes when it comes to Liberalism and the UN. It should also give us a clue as to where a few Teachers and Students at Logan High stand on the issue. It seems that they both favor the UN over their own country, the USA. Not good I wonder when they will have a "Model United States club" at Logan High school. Not that it would even be allowed there. We all know that the Herald Journal would shut down their paper before they would cover something like a "Model United States club" unless they could somehow put a negative spin on it.

"There are 16 students at Logan High who never thought the focus of their lives last week would be Tanzania.

And they probably didn’t realize how much the African country would teach them about being an American student as well.

For more than two months the Model United Nations club has met and studied the coastal African nation, and participants say they feel pretty comfortable representing it this week in California.

Logan’s team was invited to the West Coast Invitational Model United Nations conference in December and will be the only Utah team to attend. They were assigned Tanzania randomly and have been eager to learn, adviser Tacy Hymas says.

While the opportunity is wonderful, Hymas said, the amount her kids have learned in the past year is even better.

“I have just been floored by the stuff they have been able to talk about,” she said. “I’m just flabbergasted all the time with how smart they are.”

Logan’s MUN club has been in existence for several years, but only this year has it evolved to its current 40-plus member size. Hymas took over the after-school group toward the end of last school year and has moved full steam ahead ever since. The geography teacher won the regional high school adviser of the year award at an earlier conference and has more than quadrupled the attendance at weekly meetings.

For her, it’s about perspective.

“They have the opportunity to look at things different than a perspective of (Americans),” she said. “And, I think that helps them to understand our position even more.”

Model United Nations operates as a mock international peacekeeping group. Schools or individuals represent countries, lobbying for human rights, negotiating with neighboring countries, signing treaties and encouraging social and economic futures.

“It expands your view of the world,” ninth-grader Alisa Metcalf said.

She and several others said they have been amazed at the way they’ve learned to think of world issues from a non-American view.

Hymas said being able to think “outside the box” is something many of her MUN students have learned.

Co-presidents Chelsey Gensel and Chuck Major, both seniors, agree.

“A lot of people in Model U.N. are very opinionated, sometimes difficult people,” Major said. “You have to learn to compromise.”

Competing with all of those people at the Southern California conference that in years past has drawn students from Texas, Illinois, New York and Alaska was the focus of one portion of a pre-trip meeting last week.

“As soon as you have spoken, get on the list to speak again,” Gensel told the group after going through the trip’s itinerary. “Learn that (the judges) are always watching you.”

Gensel said over her high school years she has learned how to speak better, write more effectively and cooperate with different kinds of people because of her experiences in MUN, and Major agreed on what skills students pick up.

“You learn how to work with people,” Major said.

The students — even the ninth-graders who have just been in MUN for six months — say it’s affected their work in other classes. Metcalf and classmates Haley Manning and Katie Shervais credited the project for their improved ability to write persuasive papers in English and answer questions in geography. In geography class, in fact, sometimes they realize the lesson has become a two-way conversation with the teacher and themselves.

Most of the students say this year’s success is directly attributable to Hymas, a claim she turns right around on them.

“I think that my receiving the (regional adviser) award was just a reflection on how well they did. I totally owe it to them,” she said.

The team will head to California on Thursday, taking all the information about the southern African country they have learned with them. For more information about the United State’s MUN program, visit www.nmun.org."

If I could submit a reason why Liberals are so attracted to the UN it is the desire for a one world government. By definition, liberals are for big government. They believe government can solve all problems. They also believe that most problems are caused by nationalism, tribalism etc. Therefore if we could form just one government, all of our problems would be solved. Of course this whole concept ignores human nature. That is another tenent of liberalism. That is humanism. They believe that man is inherently good and just needs direction. Of course you have to ignore history to believe this, but that is ok, powerful government is the solution!!!

The problem with the philosophy of global warming is that is just a philosophy. It is an explanation of observed results. Since you can't test it and you are only looking at past data in is not a theory. Are there other possible explanations to hotter temperature measurements? How about the fact that records of temperatures are much more complete for large cities. Perhaps the growth of these cities has made them slightly hotter? And even if we assume the earth is getting hotter do we know why or if this is even a problem? We have guesses but no hard data.

It isn't just liberals.  It is also the "Conservatives".  What do you think that passing of NAFTA and CAFTA have done?  They are pushing us to a EU type of regional government.  Is Bush opposed to the UN?  No, he supports it with his policies and even with his amnesty and moving towards no borders.  Unfortunately most politicians are pro-UN and pro-world government.  Even Rob Bishop voted for CAFTA.  When asked why he said he did it because the Republicans told him to.
